The University of New Mexico has unveiled new research that could mean big things for the health and wellness applications of CBD.
A new round of testing at the university has shown the possibility that cannabis may have the ability to ease the common symptoms from a range of chronic pain disorders.
The research study was performed on rats and used neuropathic pain modeling to simulate long-term chronic pain in humans using momentary pain in the test population.
UNM’s Medical Cannabis Research Fund made the study possible, the release claims. According to MCRF, the group includes specialists from across disciplines and specialties at the university.
“Cannabis plants with low THC are still psychoactive, but tend to result in less psychedelic experiences, while still offering profound and often immediate relief from symptoms such as pain, anxiety, and depression,” co-researcher Dr. Jacob Miguel Vigil, associate professor in the UNM Psychology Department, said in the release.
The cannabis used in the trial was a commercial offering produced by Organic-Energetic Solutions, the statement said, a variety that was available since last year.
“Hemp plants contain numerous therapeutic constituents that likely contribute to analgesic responses, including terpenes and flavonoids, which in theory, work together like members of a symphony, often described as the entourage effect,” researcher Jegason P. Diviant said in the statement.
The results of the UNM study showed some positive signs, but its authors stressed the preliminary nature of the study and warned other scientists to take caution as they continue to build out the literature of research into CBD’s effects.
Regardless of the study results at UNM, many prospective customers know already that they love to use CBD for their chronic pain.
It is one of many uses thousands of Americans and others around the world use the natural, plant-based compound for in their everyday lives.
Other ailments CBD users claim it helps alleviate are swelling, insomnia, anxiety and a number of others.
Testimonials are far less scientifically persuasive or viable than lab studies or clinical trials, but there are good reasons to give friends and neighbors who have seen good results a fair hearing.
Given drastically high prescription costs and their laundry lists of side effects, it makes sense why natural, organic options are so attractive.
Still, finding the right CBD products can be difficult, and a flooded market of new businesses and retailers has confused many as the news of hemp’s utility has spread.
Luckily, Nothing But Hemp has provided an important basis for new CBD customers to learn about the benefits of hemp and which products are right for them.
