Located in Ramsey Country, Minnesota, Saint Paul is the capital city and home to over 308,000 residents. Saint Paul is known as part of the ‘Twin Cities’ along with its neighbor Minneapolis where a total of 3.6 million people call home. It also happens to be the location of a Nothing But Hemp store located on Grand Avenue where you can buy your CBD oil.

Saint Paul has a long and colorful history which is almost as colorful as CBD oil, so here is a little history of the City along with more about CBD oil and its uses.

Saint Paul’s History

From the early 17th century until the 1830s, the area around Saint Paul was occupied by the Mdewakanton Dakota tribe who called the area ‘white cliffs.’ By 1837, the tribe had signed a treaty handing over all the land east of the Mississippi to the U.S Government.

By the 1840s, the area was popular with traders and people heading west. The area was commonly known as ‘Pig’s Eye’ after the tavern that was set up there by Pierre ‘Pig’s Eye’ Parrant. He was a fur trader who started to bootleg and was known to officials in the area.  In 1841, Father Lucien Galtier was sent to be a minister for the French-Canadian settlers who had moved into the area. A chapel was set up and called Paul the Apostle, and Father Galtier told the settlement that it was to go by the name of Saint Paul instead of Pig’s Eye.

In May 1858, Minnesota was admitted to the union to become the 32nd state. However, soon afterward the country became involved in the civil war, with many volunteers from Saint Paul becoming part of the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment. Later in the Second World War, the Navy named a ship after the city, the USS St Paul. The ship’s bell is still on display in Saint Paul’s city hall.

The city has been home to major companies during its history, from 3M to The Ford Motor Company which set up in Saint Paul in 1924 until it finally closed in 2011.

Since 1886, the city has hosted the annual Saint Paul Winter Carnival which attracts an attendance of over 350,000. The carnival includes ice sculpting, snow sculpting a treasure hunt as well as many food and drink vendors.

Due to the climate in Minnesota, one of the most popular sports is ice hockey. However, in 2015, the state was awarded a Major League Soccer MLS franchise, going to Minnesota United FC. A new soccer stadium, Allianz Field, was constructed and the first MLS game was played in 2017.

Some of the most notable former residents of Saint Paul include:

● Louie Anderson - Comedian● Eyedea - Rap Artist● F. Scott Fitzgerald - Author● Hippo Campus - Indie Rock Band● Rachel Keller - Actress● Lindsey Vonn - Olympic Skier

Minnesota and CBD

Before the 1st of July 2019, there was a grey area when it came to CDB oil. Under the previous law, the legal difference between marijuana and hemp was the level of THC in the plant. Any CBD product made from marijuana was illegal to possess even if the THC level was zero.

Thankfully, after January 2019, the law was changed so that CBD products, even those that come from marijuana and not hemp are legal as long as the THC level is below 0.3 percent dry weight.

While CBD was always and still is legal to possess, the change in the law now means that the source plant that the CBD oil is made from no longer matters.

During the 1940s Minnesota was one of the leading producers of hemp, making clothing and rope. The U.S Military actually purchased much of this material for the soldiers during the Second World War. This means that the soil in Minnesota is perfect for growing hemp which where CBD oil MN comes from.

Saint Paul Residents

With over 308,000 residents, the city is one of the most densely populated in Minnesota. Around 20% of the people who live there are over the age of 55 and are more likely to suffer from health problems, especially as the climate can bring snow and cold temperatures.

Because of the recent change in the law, residents are now able to buy and use CBD oil Minnesota products freely which will help with many conditions such as arthritis, pain, and inflammation.

The Benefits of CDB Oil

There have been numerous studies on the health benefits that CBD oil can have. Such has been the level of success with some conditions, that certain CBD products are now available in prescription. Here are some of the benefits that CBD oil can have.

● Pain

Probably one of the main reasons for people taking CBD oil is to relieve pain. Marijuana has been used for this purpose since 2900 B.C and scientists have now found the components that are responsible for the pain-relieving effects. A 2012 study in the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that when they were treated with CDB orally and by injection, their inflammation and nerve pain reduced.

● Anxiety

There have been studies on how CDB can help with anxiety, and it suggests that CBD can help change the way the brain responds to serotonin. Other studies have shown that it can help with reducing stress, improve the symptoms of PTSD, help insomniacs sleep, and help with social anxiety.

● Seizures

Research is still ongoing concerning seizures. It is hoped that testing will see if CDB can help people with the number of seizures they experience because of epilepsy. Early indications show some positive results, though more research is needed.

● Alzheimer’s, MS, and Parkinson’s

These diseases are debilitating and degenerative. Researchers are looking at the brain to see if CBD can be used to help alleviate some of the symptoms associated with these diseases. It is hoped that CBD may be able to reduce the inflammation that can make the symptoms worse for patients.

● Cancer Treatment

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has suggested that CBD may be able to help alleviate some of the side effects and symptoms of cancer and cancer treatment. However, the NCI is not fully endorsing its use. Scientists are still investigating the benefits and any possible side effects of using CBD for this.

What is so encouraging about all of these studies is that more evidence is coming forward to the benefits of CBD oil and other remedies. With more research going on all the time, more uses will hopefully come to light.
