Edibles arranged? Popular fruit company turns to CBD products

Another big American brand has come to adopt the new breakout trend of hemp and cannabis products, further cementing the substances as everyday mainstays.

Edible Arrangements, well-known for its fruit baskets and late-night TV ads, is just another brand that has jumped aboard with CBD and hemp.

CBD is the non-psychoactive cannabis compound people have turned to for many of the relaxation and other benefits of marijuana without the mind-altering highs.

Some CBD products contain trace elements of THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, but for the most part they offer an alternative for those who hope to pass drug tests or avoid the haziness and inebriation of weed.

Many people love to use CBD for their chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, post-traumatic stress and even types of epilepsy. Indeed, a CBD prescription has actually been approved to treat epilepsy.

As for the popular fruit bouquets at Edible Arrangements, the company has started to offer fruits dipped in CBD-infused chocolates and other methods for delivering cannabidiol to customers.

"Consumers are showing an increasing demand for CBD products, and now is the perfect time for us to make our mark on this flourishing industry," Edible Arrangements CEO Tariq Farid said in a press release, according to Delish. [1]

Columbus, Ohio NBC affiliate, NBC4i, reports that the new line of products will be titled “Incredible Edibles,” and the company will expand the line to as many as 200 stores by the end of 2019. [3]

Yahoo! News reports that this rollout of the new line started with 25 locations around Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas and the surrounding areas.

What is the average consumer to make of Edible Arrangements’ break into the CBD industry?

It may be premature, but one may say this just about clinches the fact that CBD has seeped into just about every corner of the popular market.

Where CBD was once cutting edge and often, people weren’t sure what to make of it. With the legalization of industrial hemp in 2018, a surge of products and newfangled inventions hit the market.

But now, with everything from faddish and outlandish CBD inventions to the likes of Edible Arrangements reaching the CBD craze, hemp fans can be sure everyone’s favorite new cannabis compound has fully embedded into the culture.

Now if only regulators at the Food and Drug Administration would catch up with its popularity…
