New documentary puts CBD science in the foreground

Despite widespread attention and interest, far too many people still don’t understand the ins and outs of CBD science.

Luckily, a new documentary film is looking to change exactly that. “CBD Nation,” a new documentary film from director David Jakubovic, will release this month to educate a whole new audience about the science and benefits of CBD products.

According to reports, Jakubovic spent six months interviewing dozens of scientists, activists and entrepreneurs to craft a documentary friendly to those uninitiated in the CBD space.

Thousands of Americans and others around the U.S. have heard about the benefits of hemp, hemp oil and CBD.

People love to use CBD everyday for their chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia and a host of other issues.

There is even a prescription CBD drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat a rare form of childhood epilepsy.

Universities in America and Israel are even performing research now to determine whether CBD could serve a use in treating COVID-19.

“I had vaguely heard about CBD and really knew nothing about it, other than that it was somehow tied to cannabis,” Jakubovic told High Times. “Truth be told, my instinct was that CBD was just another overblown wellness fad. I didn’t think there was anything I could add to the conversation that hadn’t already been covered in other films.”

In the long list of potential benefits for CBD still comes with necessary qualifiers: More research needs to be done before the naturally-occurring hemp compound can be shown as effective in any health or medicinal capacity.

Still, there are a litany of preliminary studies that will be detailed in Jakubovic’s documentary, and the cannabis community can only hope that the effort will drive even more interest, both commercial and academic.

And while many are waiting for more clear-cut answers, thousands of Americans claim in testimonials far and wide that they have drastically improved their lives with CBD products. Hopefully, this new documentary will show an even wider range of consumers CBD’s benefits.

“The main takeaway is that the science is real and that any stigmas surrounding this plant are not rooted in the reality of the facts and research,” Jakubovic told High Times. “It’s as simple as that. Cannabis spent long enough in our culture as an unwitting punchline to many. It’s time for it to be presented 100% seriously.”
