Former Patriots star Rob Gronkowski turns to CBD

Celebrity endorsements are nothing new for the young cannabis and CBD industry.

Nate Diaz recently lit up a CBD joint before a fight, pro golfers support the stuff and even Martha Stewart has floated industry connections.

Most recently, however, former Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski recently announced his partnership with Abacus Health Products, which creates lines of CBD products.

Gronkowski retired from the NFL in March, but the Boston Globe reports that the football star is even taking on a new moniker after the announcement. “You can just call me Mr. Recovery. Yeah, you know you like that name.” [1]

The nickname comes from the fact the tight end sat out 29 regular-season games in his career, which included three Super Bowl wins with the Patriots. [3]

CBDMEDIC is the brand of products created by AHP, and reportedly focuses on “safe, natural and temporary relief.” [1]

CBD products more generally are widely sought by customers across America and the world for people’s pain, anxiety, epilepsy and insomnia problems.

Scientific research and inquiry into the precise benefits of the compound, which is related to marijuana but is non-psychoactive, but the testimonial evidence has been piling up since CBD was legalized in 2018.

Additionally, preliminary animal testing and other research point to some benefits in just these areas, isolating its potential as an anti-inflammatory and to address rare forms of epilepsy.

“During my career, I pushed myself while recovering from nine surgeries and countless injuries,” he said, according to Fox Business. [3]

Gronkowski was amazed at the pain relief he found in CBD. [2]

“Once I retired, I looked for better and more natural ways to recover and discovered CBDMEDIC. These products have helped me safely manage pain better than anything else I’ve tried. Building on my own experience with CBDMEDIC for pain, I’m inspired to work with the company to introduce new CBD products to the market.”

Abacus hasn’t made public how much money is tied up with the sponsorship with Gronkowski. [4]

“We’re proud to parent with one of football’s greatest tight ends of all times,” Abacus CEO Perry Antelman told Fox Business. “Gronk’s passion for living life to the fullest while maintaining a health, natural and pain-free lifestyle aligns perfectly with the mission of our company. [3]
