CBD is Better than ADD Medicine

What is ADD?

ADD stands for Attention Deficit Disorder, and refers to various traits that reflect a child’s neurological based temperament - something that they have had since birth. The four main symptoms are: impulsivity, distractibility, selective attention, and in a large number of cases, hyperactivity (ADHD). ADD has a serious knock-on effect for the child, and can be very challenging his or her immediate family, especially as this kind of behavior can be unpredictable [1].

Treating ADD

Pharmacological drugs such as Vyvanse, Adderall and Ritalin, are stimulant-based, because they are designed to raise the prefrontal cortex levels of norepinephrine and dopamine. Further, research indicates that both Vyvanse and Adderall generate longer side-effects, and are not as tolerant as others. And while it has to be said that some of these drugs are helpful for a number of patients, in some cases, they actually make a child feel more anxious. Moreover, the side effects of this medication which include: hallucinations, stunted growth, circulatory system problems, vomiting, nausea and insomnia, are very serious indeed.

How CBD Can Help Children With ADD

Imagine finding a safe solution that can help your child stay mentally well, without the horrendous and dangerous side effects. - Well there is one, it comes in three letters: CBD. - This miracle compound of full-spectrum CBD (cannabidiol) oil is not psycho-active, and has been shown to be able to treat attention, motivation, learning and anxiety issues [2].

Research has shown that various cannabis plant compounds endow patients with the same positive medicinal effects as standard drugs, minus the debilitating side effects. Moreover, a number of these plant elements are able to ameliorate some of the drugs' side effects, such as: vomiting, nausea and insomnia. In 2013, research publicized in the Journal of Substance Use and Misuse, showed that many patients self-medicate in order to treat their Attention Deficit Disorder [2].

Interest is Skyrocketing

Parents and their children are desperate for a solution, as all over the world, the growing interest in the medicinal benefits of the cannabis plant is skyrocketing. And with more studies and clinical trials being regularly completed by medical institutions and universities, along with patients' own testimonies, cannabis is being promoted as a must-have alternative for children [2], so they can live as normal a life as possible, and excel in what they do at school and beyond. Further, research has shown that the pharmacological drugs that physicians currently prescribe, are more demanding than CBD on patients. The latter empower children with ADD to live well, and study at school without any profound side-effects [2].

So How Does CBD Work?

CBD works by activating anti-inflammatory, anti-depressant, and anti-anxiety receptors, thereby helping to manage ADD symptoms. In addition to this, it minimizes the level of receptor activation generated by THC, and thereby counteracts any feelings of being “high” [2]. In summary, while more research would be helpful, it will not be long before this is a reality. Researchers have been inspired by some of the miraculous effects of CBD oil, and the marked improvement in patients. They know that CBD's miraculous properties and lack of harmful side effects, could be the answer to may patient's problems. Children are particularly vulnerable when they suffer from any form of mental instability, and having a natural cure is surely a wonderful gift from nature.
