Terrell Davis of NFL fame launches new CBD company, DEFY

Another NFL star has jumped into the revolutionary CBD trade in recent weeks.

Former Denver Broncos running back and two-time Super Bowl champion Terrell Davis recently started the CBD company DEFY, which specializes in recovery-based athletic drinks and which Davis hopes will soon be a more prominent part of the NFL and other professional sports.

Davis was not always a fan of CBD, and for the longest time would conflate his teammate’s use of the non-intoxicating substance with other cannabis products like marijuana, according to Westword.

Slowly but surely, he learned about why people love to choose CBD for inflammation, chronic pain and other conditions in a sport marked by its mendacious toll on the human body. Davis said his own injuries led him to try CBD.

“I remember looking at my life and thinking I was always going to feel that way, but [CBD] and DEFY have changed my outlook on that,” Davis told Westword. “I’m 200 pounds, and I haven't been like that since high school. It helped as a preventive of migraines, as well, and I wasn't even prepared for that.”

According to Fox Business, Davis’ brand is having effects even outside the world of football.

John Isner, the tennis player ranked 14th in the world, recently accepted a DEFY sponsorship and plans to wear the logo prominently on his hat at upcoming events.

“I play a sport where taking a single point off can be the difference between winning and losing a match and Defy is a product specifically intended to put me in a position to perform on every single point,” Isner said in a statement. “It’s been great etting to know Defy as a company and I look forward to working with them to help people achieve improved performance through CBD.”

Davis isn’t the only NFL star to have shown interest in CBD.

Rob Gronkowski, who retired from the New England Patriots last year, announced in August that he was working with a brand called Abacus Health Products, which owns CBDMEDIC branded products.

“Once I retired, I looked for better and more natural ways to recover and discovered CBDMEDIC. These products have helped me safely manage pain better than anything else I’ve tried. Building on my own experience with CBDMEDIC for pain, I’m inspired to work with the company to introduce new CBD products to the market,” Gronkowski said.

Other high-level athletes like fighter Nate Diaz, members of triathlon associations, even mushers in the Iditarod dogsled race have come out in favor of CBD with their own lines of products and with corporate sponsorships.
